Snow slopes facing Nanda Devi
Auli is a high Himalayan meadow above Joshimath, known for winter skiing and expansive views towards Nanda Devi and neighbouring peaks. Outside the snow season, its grassy slopes and nearby forest trails make it a scenic mountain base rather than a conventional hill-town retreat.

Things to do
Good to know
When is the best time to visit Auli?+
January to March is the usual skiing window, but snowfall varies; April to June and October offer walking and mountain views.
How many days are needed?+
Two to three nights in Auli allow time for meadow walks and weather-dependent activities, excluding the long journey from Rishikesh.
Are altitude and lift operations a concern?+
Auli is around 2,800 m high, so take the first day gently. Ropeway and chairlift operations can change; verify availability rather than assuming they are running.
