Things to do
Good to know
When is the best time to visit Gangtok and Sikkim?+
March to May and October to November are generally favourable; high-altitude routes remain weather-dependent in every season.
How many days are needed?+
Allow three to four days for Gangtok and nearby excursions, or seven to nine days if adding accessible parts of North or West Sikkim.
Which permits are needed?+
Foreign visitors need the applicable Sikkim entry permit. Tsomgo, Nathula and North Sikkim have additional area-specific rules; Nathula tourist access is restricted to eligible Indian citizens.
Are high-altitude excursions suitable for everyone?+
Tsomgo and Nathula rise well above Gangtok and can cause altitude illness. Check medical suitability, avoid rushing the ascent and confirm road access with an authorised operator.
